Foxmarks version 2.0.x: The easy way

An easy way to access your logfile is to open your Foxmarks Settings window (under Tools > Foxmarks... > Settings), then click on the "Advanced" tab, and click "Show Log File". This will open up your foxmarks.log file in a new browser window, and you can copy-and-paste the last several dozen lines (or the last few transactions if you see something that looks like a separator with lots of dashes) into a text file or the body of your email to us. Note that we need that last chunk at the bottom of the file.

Fair warning: the logfile is going to be BIG. That's okay, but please don't try to send us the whole thing!! We just need to see the last few dozen lines at the bottom.

Locate your log file

It's called foxmarks.log. It's kept in your Firefox profile directory. Windows users can typically find their profile here:

c:\windows\documents and settings\username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\junk.default\

(Note that username and junk will vary for each user and system.)

Windows Vista users likely have a slightly different location:

C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\junk.default\

Macintosh users can typically find their log file by using spotlight to search for foxmarks.log.

Otherwise, go to this page for more complete documentation on locating your profile.

Send it to us!

Email us your foxmarks.log file as an attachment. (Note that if you cut & paste the file contents into the email instead of attaching it, it may be rejected as spam.)
