Foxmarks: Disabling a Proxy Server
From Foxmarks Wiki
Foxmarks doesn't work for most proxy servers. You will need to edit your Foxmarks network settings to disable the proxy altogether, or you may disable the proxy for just Foxmarks.
[edit]
For Firefox 2.0
- In Firefox, open the "Firefox Preferences" dialog ('Edit > Preferences' or possibly 'Tools > Options > Advanced > Settings'; on Mac OS X it's usually under 'Firefox > Preferences')
- On the Advanced page, click the Network tab.
- Click "Settings..."
- Select "Direct Connection to the Internet" to disable the proxy entirely (the easiest thing), OR, if you must use a proxy, select "Manual proxy configuration", make sure that all settings are entered properly for your proxy, and add "sync.foxmarks.com" to the "No proxy for:" box.
[edit]
For Firefox 1.5
- In Firefox, go to Tools/Options.
- On the General tab, click "Connection Settings..."
- Under "Manual Proxy Configuration," there's an input box labelled "No Proxy for:" It automatically has "localhost, 127.0.0.1" and all you have to do is add in "sync.foxmarks.com" with a comma separating it from the rest.
(We've seen a particularly nasty problem with Symantec Enterprise 10.1; that server appears to block outgoing sync requests while indicating back to Foxmarks that it has actually processed that request. This can lead to loss of data.)
